(KDVR) — An Aurora family who is from Morocco said they lost 13 family members in the powerful earthquake there on Friday.Hanane Ghiwane lives in Aurora with her husband and children, but her parents, siblings and other family members still live in Morocco. Her cousins sent her pictures and video of the family's damaged and destroyed homes."My grandparents' house just disappeared," she said. Ghiwane's parents live in Casablanca, and they were all right. But her mother's family lives in southern villages near Taroudant, in the Atlas Mountains. Ghiwane said 13 of them died in the quake."Thirteen is not a small number that we lost in one day," she said. "One of them, she was pregnant with a child. (KDVR) — A prison inmate who walked away from a federal prison in Colorado last Tuesday was found to have meth in his locker four days earlier, according to law enforcement sources who spoke to the Problem Solvers on the condition of anonymity. Edward Verdugo was discovered missing around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5, from the Federal Correctional Institution, Englewood. It's near the intersection of South Kipling Street and Quincy Avenue in unincorporated Jefferson County. American researcher has been rescued from deep Turkish cave more than a week after he fell ill TASELI PLATEAU, Turkey (AP) — Rescuers pulled an American researcher out of a Turkish cave on Monday, more than a week after he became seriously ill 1,000 meters (more than 3,000 feet) below its entrance, said the Speleological Federation of Turkey.Teams from across Europe had rushed to Morca cave in southern Turkey’s Taurus Mountains to aid Mark Dickey, a 40-year-old experienced caver who became seriously ill on Sept. 2 with stomach bleeding. He was on an expedition to map the cave, which is the country’s third deepest.Dickey was too frail to climb out himself, so rescuers carried him with the help of a stretcher, making frequent stops at temporary camps set up along the way.The American was first treated inside the cave by a Hungarian doctor who went down the cave on Sept. 3. Teen facing attempted murder charge in connection with incident in Chatham appears in court Fourteen year old Jack Sheeran IV appeared in court Monday and was later released from juvenile detention as he faces allegations that he attacked a 15-year-old Black boy after he and a friend invited the boy to go swimming at Goose Pond in Chatham in July. The incident happened on July 19. On Monday, Sheeran and his father made a speedy exit from court. “I don’t want to speak right now,” Sheeran said when asked for comment. According to a police report, Sheehan and his friend used the N-word and threw rocks at the victim in this incident, who can’t swim and wore a life preserver in the water. The police report said Sheehan and his friend also allegedly tried to hold the victim underwater several times.
