Editor's Note: The above video shares tips for responding to heat-related illnesses.AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Electric Reliability Council of Texas has extended its latest weather watch yet again as summer heat persists in the state.Its watch originally went into effect Sunday and was expected to last until Monday. It then extended it that day to Friday and on Friday announced it would be in place until the following week on Aug. 18. How you can check Texas power grid conditions Weather watches don't mean the grid is in an emergency situation, but is an early alert for Texans to monitor grid conditions. It is a type of alert that is new this year and part of the group's efforts to keep Texans informed about the power grid. APD investigating homicide in southeast Austin The shooting happened in the 7900 block of Lee Hill Drive, which is south of East Riverside Drive, off of Hoeke Lane. Austin Police Department officers responded to the scene around 6:30 p.m. after someone called 911 saying they found a person dead and the suspect was still at the location. APD identified the victim as Isaias Martinez, 54, and the suspect as Jorge Flores-Duran, 60. Flores-Duran was detained and interviewed by investigators. APD said during the interview, he admitted to shooting Martinez during an argument. MAP: Where have Austin’s homicides occurred in 2023? CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Clifton Park man has been arrested following a sexual abuse investigation, according to state police. Justin Pringle, 35, faces multiple charges. On August 10 at 7:42 p.m., troopers received a report of inappropriate contact between an adult male and a minor in Clifton Park. The investigation determined that earlier in the day, Pringle had reportedly provided consumable products containing cannabis to a child under the age of 14 in exchange for sexual contact. Pringle was arrested near his home and transported to SP Clifton Park for processing. SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An arrest has been made following an investigation into a report of a sexual assault that happened on August 6. Police charged Joseph D. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Two people in Albany were arrested following a traffic stop, according to state police. On August 10 at 11:50 a.m., troopers stopped a vehicle on Ontario Street in Albany for multiple traffic law violations. The driver was identified as Ali, and the passenger was identified as Swart. The investigation by police revealed that Ali was illegally in possession of a loaded handgun, a BB gun, felony-weight narcotics, drug paraphernalia containing drug residue and a large amount of cash. BASTROP COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) – The sheriff in Bastrop County, Texas, called it a "sad tragedy" while describing the lengthy recovery efforts it took to pull the bodies of three people and a dog from a hole in a corn field Wednesday. Sheriff Maurice Cook said a man from Red Rock, Texas led three people from Florida on a hog hunt and called deputies for help at about 1 a.m. Wednesday. The man reported three people trapped in a hole in the 300 block of New Trail, which is close to County Road 461 in northern Bastrop County. The hole turned out to be a cistern that had standing water in it about six to eight feet below ground level. The sheriff said the hunting guide told deputies that a dog escaped from a truck and fell into the cistern. LOUIS – A woman has been identified in a fatal north St. Louis shooting.Police responded to a fatal shooting in north St. Louis at the 4700 block of Riverview on August 3 at 6:20 p.m. Officers found Ametta Powell, 30, suffering from a gunshot wound. She later died at an area hospital. The Homicide Division is continuing to investigate. CREVE COEUR -- A stalled truck led to an arrest in July. The police discovered it was stolen.Creve Coeur Police found a truck stopped in the southbound lanes of Olive near Old Olive West at 1 a.m. on July 25, 2023. Police discovered that the truck had been reported stolen the day before in St. Louis County. Jerome L. King, 35, was placed under arrest.King is charged with tampering and having a gun illegally.
