Scientists say they have created synthetic human embryos using stem cells, sidestepping the need for eggs or sperm.The world's first embryo-like structures are at the very earliest stages of human development. And, they don't have a beating heart or a brain.Scientists in the U.S. and the United Kingdom say they could one day help advance the understanding of genetic diseases, or the biological causes of recurrent miscarriage.The work is raising serious ethical and legal questions. AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin Downtown Alliance announced Friday it would close roads effective immediately throughout downtown. From June 15 through June 19, Guadalupe between Sixth and Eight Streets will be closed. Seventh Street between San Antonio and Lavaca Streets will also be closed. The Austin entity is closing the roads so that contractors can dismantle a tower crane. Further from July 21 to July 23, the intersection of Guadalupe and 17th streets is expected to close. AUSTIN (KXAN) - Arizona Cardinals quarterback and former Texas Longhorn Colt McCoy held his 2023 Colt McCoy Performance Camp at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex this weekend for children going into 1st through 8th grades. All proceeds of the camp benefit Dell Children's Medical Center North Campus."This is one of my favorite parts about the summer," said McCoy. "It's just pretty special for me. My dad runs the camp. My brothers come back in town."The NFL veteran is entering into his thirteenth year in the league. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - An officer quickly arrested a gunman accused in a shooting in north St. Louis County last week, one which followed a verbal argument. The shooting happened on June 10 in the 7000 block of Page Avenue in Pagedale. An officer was performing stationary patrol from his police vehicle when he reportedly witnessed the gunman shoot another man in the leg.
