Hagaman man charged with arson HAGAMAN, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Hagaman man was arrested after a fire Thursday morning. Matthew Kleabonas, 62, was charged with Arson in the Third Degree.Shortly after 6:30 a.m. Thursday, first responders were called to a fire on Chuctununda Street in the village of Hagaman. Investigators said the fire was suspicious and determined it was deliberately set. After interviews and looking at pictures provided by community members, Kleabonas was arrested and charged.He was arraigned in the Town of Amsterdam Court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to reappear in court at a later date.

Albany sex offender arrested for distributing child pornography ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A convicted sex offender was arrested on a charge of distributing child pornography. Prosecutors said Stephen Brisee, 29, of Albany, distributed videos of adults subjecting girls between the ages of six months and 10 years to sexual penetration.  At the time, Brisee was a registered sex offender on post-release supervision after being convicted of promoting a sexual performance by a child.The new charge carries a prison term of 15 to 40 years in prison, a fine up to $250,000, and supervised release of five years to life. Brisee is being held until a pending detention hearing.

Gas tax hike, police reform, relief for veterans: New laws in Md. take effect July 1 Hundreds of new laws will go into effect in Maryland on Saturday, including one that’s designed to give retired veterans a break.The Keep Our Heroes Home Act will boost the amount of tax-exempt income for retired veterans in Maryland from $15,000 to $20,000 — that applies to those 55 and older.For younger retired veterans, the amount that will be exempt from state taxes will rise from $5,000 to $12,500. The changes apply for the 2023 tax year.Members of the Maryland National Guard will also see a new benefit go into effect July 1. They’ll be eligible for reimbursements of up to $60 a month on their health and dental plans.Under police reform legislation, law enforcement agencies in Maryland will be required to make sure their on-duty officers are equipped with body-worn cameras.
