Greg Abbott's request for the board to review the guilty verdict and the Travis County District Attorney's response to Abbott's request.Perry was found guilty of murder on April 7 in the deadly shooting of an Air Force veteran and Black Lives Matter protester, Garrett Foster, during a racial justice protest in July 2020 in downtown Austin. Foster was armed with a rifle. Perry's attorneys said the shooting was in self-defense. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Austin city leaders are working toward creating an interim pedestrian safety plan for the Rainey Street Historic District, following council action taken Thursday.Austin City Council approved the resolution directing Interim City Manager Jesús Garza to "explore the capacity for Park Rangers to patrol and have EMS stationed at the Rainey Street Trailhead." Following council action Thursday, Garza is expected to present an initial report to the body by April 20. AUSTIN, (KXAN) - The University of Texas at Austin has the highest bed count in the nation for student housing projects currently under construction, according to real estate company Berkadia’s 2023 Student Housing Market report.The report shows UT coming in at the top spot with 5,522 total beds. (NEWS10) -- The State of New York Supreme Court Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department has denied Mavis Discount Tire's appeal to be dropped from civil lawsuits related to the fatal 2018 Schoharie limo crash. The initial civil lawsuits against Mavis allege they were at fault for allowing the limousine to be out on the road. They further allege that Mavis botched the brake repairs in 2016 and again in 2018, but still gave Prestige Limousine an inspection sticker for the limo.In 2021, the court denied the motion made by Mavis lawyers to be removed from the civil cases brought on by the families of the victims of the limo crash. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A Florissant man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting earlier this week at a Spanish Lake apartment building.According to Sgt. Tracy Panus, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis County Police Department, the shooting happened just before 12:25 a.m. on Tuesday in the 11100 block of Riaza Square.Police responded to calls of a shooting and were flagged down by a resident, who told them the victim was inside the complex in a shared hallway, Panus said.The victim, Johnathan Whitted, was taken to a local hospital but died of his wounds.
