DAVENPORT, Fla. (WSVN) — A community’s collective efforts led to a heartwarming outcome as a 3-year-old boy with autism, who had gone missing earlier in the day, was found safe and sound. On Tuesday, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office issued an urgent plea for assistance in locating Thomas, the young boy who had managed to slip out of his house in the early morning hours. As news of the missing child spread throughout the community, the Davenport neighborhood was soon abuzz with concerned residents, including Minchala.“I heard a lot of helicopters going around,” Minchala recounted. Alongside the sheriff’s deputies, she was alerted to the situation through her phone. “It said that someone was missing,” she noted. Thomas had been visiting the neighborhood with his family. At least five people were taken to local hospitals following a construction accident in Bedford, according to authorities. Police told 7NEWS a crew was putting up a wall at a residential construction site on Dunster Road Wednesday morning when the wall reportedly to fall on several workers.Officials said that of the crew of some eight workers, five were brought to a hospital after the accident was called in around 7:35 a.m.In an update later in the morning, authorities said at least one worker was in critical condition and another had serious injuries after the accident. The remaining three were believed to have possibly minor injuries. SAN DIEGO -- Lifeguards are cracking down on illegal jet ski rentals following the death of a 12-year-old girl who was killed while paddle boarding in Mission Bay. SAN DIEGO -- A motorcyclist was seriously injured Tuesday after colliding with vehicle in San Pasqual, authorities said.A 26-year-old man was riding a BMW S1000 motorcycle northbound around 2 p.m. at 13900 San Pasqual Rd. when for unknown reasons the motorcycle crossed over into the southbound lanes of the roadway, the San Diego Police Department explained. San Diego Lifeguards cracking down on illegal boats, jet skis in Mission Bay At that same time, police say a 46-year-old man was driving a Toyota RAV4 southbound on San Pasqual Road. The Toyota collided with the motorcycle, ejecting the rider. According to SDPD, the rider sustained injuries to his left leg and internal organs. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with life threatening injruies. SDPD's Traffic Division units responded to the scene and are handling the investigation.
