Ukraine’s Zelenskyy visits International Criminal Court THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday made an unannounced visit to the International Criminal Court, which has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin for alleged war crimes in Ukraine.Zelenskyy was on a visit to The Hague, which hosts the ICC as well as the United Nations’ top judicial organ, the International Court of Justice. The Dutch city calls itself the international city of peace and justice.Judges at the ICC last month announced they found “reasonable grounds to believe” that Putin and his commissioner for children’s rights were responsible for the unlawful deportation and unlawful transfer of children from occupied areas of Ukraine to Russia. But the chances of Putin standing trial in The Hague are remote, The court does not have a police force to execute its warrants, and the Russian leader is unlikely to travel to any of the ICC’s 123 member states that are under an obligation to arrest him if they can.THIS...

Airbnb will push rooms as low-cost option to house rentals DALLAS (AP) — Airbnb is making a renewed push into renting single rooms in a nod to its beginnings and a realization that renting an entire house is too expensive for many travelers, especially younger ones. The short-term rental company rolled out a new offering Wednesday that it calls Airbnb Rooms. Guests can rent a room in the same house or apartment as their host at prices that Airbnb says will average $67 a night.“It is an admission that travelers care more about affordability than they did a year ago,” said CEO Brian Chesky.Airbnb has always listed single rooms in houses and apartments. The company said the new offering will give more biographical information about hosts, and consumers can sort listings to learn details including whether their bedroom door locks and the bathroom is private or shared. It’s a throwback to the original concept that Chesky and Joe Gebbia — now chairman of Airbnb — had in 2007, when they took guests in their San Francisco apartment to hel...

Terrific Thursday Weather with Lower Humidity The week so far has been very quiet and beautiful courtesy of high pressure in control keeping all the weather systems away from South Florida. A weak front, however, did pass through the area last night but it lacked moisture to produce any rain showers. What it did do is actually drop moisture levels further with lower humidity ahead this Thursday compared to yesterday on Wednesday.High temperatures will be a couple degrees lower this Thursday, reaching the mid to upper 80s and with the low humidity, temperatures will feel just like the actual readings. That will be paired with abundant sunshine and a light breeze out of the north-northeast.This story holds true for your Friday too, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 80s, although humidity will be slightly higher. If you do enjoy this dry air, be sure to enjoy it because this is the time of the year when these pleasant days come to an end until next winter. Now by the weekend, we will begin to see some changes to...

Spy hunt or witch hunt? Ukrainians fear the two are merging KYIV — From the glass cage in a Kyiv courtroom, Roman Dudin professed his innocence loudly. And he fumed at the unusual decision to prevent a handful of journalists from asking him questions during a break in the hearing. The former Kharkiv security chief is facing charges of treason and deserting his post, allegations he and his supporters deny vehemently. “Why can’t I talk with the press?” he bellowed. As he shook his close-cropped head in frustration, his lawyers, a handful of local reporters and supporters chorused his question. At a previous hearing Dudin had been allowed during a break to answer questions from journalists, in keeping with general Ukrainian courtroom practice, but according to his lawyers and local reporters, the presence of POLITICO appeared to unnerve authorities. Suspiciously, too, the judge returned and to the courtroom’s surprise announced an unexpected adjournment, offering no reason. A commotion ensued as she left and further recr...
