With a shutdown of the federal government on the horizon, government workers and contractors may need to start filing for unemployment insurance.“We’re anticipating that there’s probably a few hundred thousand federal government employees and even federal government contractors that may be eligible for unemployment insurance benefits, if the federal government is not funded this weekend,” Unique Morris-Hughes, director of the D.C. DENVER (KDVR) — Suzanne Morphew's remains have been found, but the investigation continued Friday with another search.Multiple law enforcement agencies conducted a "comprehensive search" Friday near Moffat, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation said in a release. It's the area in Saguache County where Morphew's remains were found a week ago. Police are investigating what they described as a road rage shooting in Southwest Miami-Dade that has led to the closure of Bird Road and sent one person to the hospital.7Skyforce hovered above the scene of the incident in the area along Bird Road, near Southwest 112th Avenue, just after 5 p.m., Friday.Miami-Dade Police and Fire Rescue units responded to the scene just before 4:45 p.m.According to investigators, when a man in a van confronted the driver of a BMW, the driver of the BMW pulled out and discharged a firearm.However, detectives said, the shooter missed the intended target and struck an innocent female. (AP) — The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests has completed a long-term effort to protect two adjacent forests in the northern part of the state totaling 3,700 acres (1,497 hectares).The forests will be managed for multiple objectives, including habitat protection, scenic value, and for public recreation and education. A Brazilian suspected of murder in his home country was arrested by U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement operatives in Martha’s Vineyard.Members of ICE Boston’s Enforcement and Removal Operations arrested Hiago Ornela-Da Silva, 31, of Brazil, Thursday in Edgartown.
